To find out how sensitive a person is, just ask them
if they love horses!
This fine rare Oldenburg brood mare, GENTANA III, has always been a mother, she has produced about 15 foals between Oldenburg and Holland, and is now in Italy, owned by the J. Stud Farm.
The sire of GENTANA III was the Hanoverian Grannus, a “black” stallion that was for many years one of the first 10 in the WBFSH ratings. The mythical Grannus (G-line) sired seven Olympic show-jumpers and more than 60 approved stallions, he was one of the world’s “GREATEST” sires.
His progeny has realised a figure that is still unbeaten in any speciality. There is something magic about his history, and about his death too! It was late when they discovered that he was a fantastic stallion; fine but powerful, magnetic and courageous, a fighter with a personality and a character that simply transmitted a lot of quality, and his progeny has amply demonstrated this. He died during a show in front of a thousand spectators.
The dam “GENTANA II” produced two approved stallions, full brothers of GENTANA III: Gervantus I (1986) approved in Oldenburg, in Baden - Wurttemberg and in the Netherlands, who in turn sired international winners.
Gervantus II (1987), approved in Oldenburg, in Westphalia and in Switzerland, has had an excellent career and has achieved international rankings; an accident at the European Championships forced him to retire permanently from competitions, and he is now in Canada. Like his brother, he has sired many international winners.
The grand dam of GENTANA III, “St.Pr.St. Servante” comes from a very fine line of "S" level jumpers, we mention only a few: Fidelio (by Furioso II) ridden by Dietrich Schulze, Gento (three-day-eventer) ridden by H.Melzer and Freischutz (European Dressage Champion) ridden by Susanne Stoll.
Vollkorn XX, sire of the dam “Gentana II”, is an important purebred, he handed down ridability, easy leading and a good disposition. Volturno (1968-1988), a stallion colt of his approved in Oldenburg and in Sweden, ridden by his owner Otto Ammermann in the German team, was a legend, taking two Olympic Silver Medals, the Silver Medal in the three-day event at the World Championships, and out of 27 international trials coming 20 times first, the other times 2nd or 3rd!
Another purebred in the pedigree of GENTANA III is the famous Manolete XX, very important for his elasticity and bearing.
Two fillies out of GENTANA III are owned by the J. Stud Farm:
GENTANA IV J year 2005 by Indoctro
QUINTANA J year 2006 by Quidam de Revel
GENTANA III is currently in foal to STAKKATO for a 2008 foal.
