“God forbid that I should go to a heaven
where there are no horses.”
(R. B. Cunninghame-Graham)
French saddle horse
This French saddle horse brood mare was born at the prestigious “ Haras de Brullemail ” of Monsieur Bernard Le Courtois, a pioneer of French horse breeding.
An exceptional crossbreed of the purebred Laudanum XX with Ramiro already highly advanced for the stud farm in the Nineties. In those years in France it was not possible to cross French brood mares with foreign stallions, the progeny was not registered in the French Stud Book!
In her lifetime DAMILDA MAIL has produced 12 foals including 9 females between Belgium and Holland; now in Italy, she is owned by the J. Stud Farm.
One of the most important colts of DAMILDA MAIL which has distinguished itself at international level is ODAMILDO de Revel by Quidam de Revel, sold in the United States; he came 9th in the 6-year-old Championships, the following year, 2004, he was 1st in the 7-year-old class. He is still in the USA and is jumping in the 1.60 m categories.
The female progeny had a different destiny, being put out to stud, to mention just a few: one mare KWPN “Pamilda Mail” by Galoubet A received the Elite award, and “Ramilda Mail” also by Galoubet A, receiver of the Keur – Elite awards, produced ZENITH by Indoctro, KWPN approved stallion in 2007 owned by VDL, Wiebe van de Lageweg.
Her sire LAUDANUM XX, BSO + 29 (0,92) BLUP + 30 , put out to stud in 1978, top of the European list of exceptional purebred stallions for having won international CSI and CSIO competitions (with Pierre Durand), has in turn sired numerous international winners.
Her maternal grand sire RAMIRO, a descendant of the Polish Anglo-Arab Ramzes XO, marked up 160 (0.96) in show jumping, won prizes totalling D.M. 2.540.008; he produced an incredible number of international winners and stallions that were successful all over the world. As regards competition, RAMIRO obtained good placing in a number of International Grand Prix, ridden by Fritz Ligges, and he was used for reproduction only afterwards.
Nicknamed the “euro-stallion”, he is the sire of numerous stallions approved in Belgium, Germany, Holland and many other countries.
Her dam RENALDA – BWP – is dam of Katinka Van de Helle – BWP – by Furioso II; which in turn produced Orlanda Van de Helle, BWP by Sheyenne de Baugy.
Her grand sire RENALDO – Westfalia by Remus I (Radetzky – Ramzes XO) and Lohengrin sired two stallions: Remondo and Respekt, the first of which operates for the sBs Belgian Sporthorse. Remus I, one of the 20 approved foals of Westfalia, known as the “Radetzky phenomenon”, founded one of the most important lines in this Stud Book, for a certain period the only one along with that of Fruhling, before the Pilatus – Pilot – Polydor line was imposed. Radetzky is also the sire of Romadour I and II. Both Romulus I and II and RENALDO are the most important foals of REMUS I, whose progeny is registered in the WBFSH guide thanks to interesting prize money won in Germany, with products classified in class “S”.
